The 2012 Fairfield Fire Fighters 5K Race
Needs Volunteers!

The FBRA volunteers helped make the 2011 race a huge success and now the FBRA requests your participation for the 2012 race!

The race will take place Saturday June 23, 2012 beginning at Jennings Beach

Last year’s benefactors were: Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Camp, Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport, Fisher House, and Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and the Wounded Warrior Project.  Previous benefactors have been:  $25,000 to The Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, $7,000 to the Fairfield YMCA, $3,600 To Newspapers in Education, $5,000 to the Bridgeport Fallen Firefighters Fund, $5,000 to the burn unit at Bridgeport Hospital $5,000 to the Atlantic Regional Firefighter Burn Foundation and many other local groups at lesser amounts.  Additionally several groups used our event to raise money including the Leukemia, Lymphoma Society last year raised about $225,000 and has raised over $1,000,000 in the last 5 years.  Giant Steps raised about $50,000 and several other groups did well also.

We need volunteers to man two water stations, one on Reef and one on Rowland, registration, parking, distribution of numbers and dispensing of refreshments at Jennings Beach.

Last year’s volunteers agreed it was a fun event.  I personally felt it rewarding to know that such worthy organizations benefited.
