3rd Annual FBRA Sand Sculpture Festival
Penfield Beach

Hosted by the Fairfield Beach Residents Association (FBRA)
and The Inn at Fairfield Beach

As part of the continuing effort to improve the beach area, Sean Fitzpatrick, a master sculptor and founder of Fitzy Snowman Sculpting in Saugus, MA, will create a sculpture out of 10 tons of sand incorporating the logos of Sponsors; Gigliotti & Walsh Fine Properties www.gigliottiwalsh.com, Fairfield, CT and SUBWAY.

The carving will take place for three full days (August 5,6,7th ) and the sculpture will remain on view at Penfield Beach.

Friday, August 6 CancerCare and Dr. Ivan Cohen and Associates will offer free skin cancer screenings from 1:30 -3:30 p.m.

Saturday August 7 The Police Athletic League will hold an Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest on the sandbar at Penfield Beach 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Registration is required at 12:30 p.m. and the event is free to the public. Teams must include at least one member 18 or under. For more information visit the P.A.L. website at  www.fpdct.com/pal.htm  Prizes will be rewarded and Star 99.9 will join in on the fun


Also on Saturday, Subway Subman will be at the Jacky Durrell Pavilion with giveaways and more!

Gigliotti and Walsh will also hold a coloring contest with a grand prize! 

Saturday & Sunday Yoga for Everybody will offer classes on the beach for only $10  the weekend of the event only, at 7:00 a.m. on the deck of the Jacky Durrell Pavilion

 

Net proceeds will be used to improve the quality, safety, beauty and ecology of Fairfield Beach and a donation will be made to CancerCare. 

The process is fascinating to watch, at every stage, and there will be lots of photo opportunities

There will be no admission fee to the event at the beach but those without beach stickers must pay for parking.  Visitors are welcome and can pay $15 on the weekdays and $25 on the weekend to park for the day, in the lots at Penfield Pavilion

FBRA Annual Food Drive
Nov. 17th - Penfield Beach
We collected 500 lbs of food for Operation Hope equaling last years amount.  Please come out next year and help us break 500 lbs.

Kurt and Clea Soderland initiated the Memorial Day Flag tribute on Fairfield Beach and donated 3813 American Flags in 2007 and over 4000 in 2008
